The Gingerbread House Project (GHP) was a military-run, government-funded operation that aimed to train young children into becoming super-soldiers by brainwashing them using specialized holograms into believing that they were characters from fairytales, complete with the immortality granted to them by their happy endings and a few powers that related to themselves and their stories. Ten years ago, the project was halted when a child died and the other children involved were scattered across the country in the care of parents, relatives, or foster/adoptive homes. Contact between them was sporadic, but still existent.

In the following years, most remained firm in their belief that they were fairytale characters, and held on to the hope that they would be reunited with everyone someday. Some, a very small minority, went into hiding, never to be found by normal people, their project-mates, or the project managers themselves. Still others went through therapy and eventually stopped believing, thereby forgetting their memories of the project and losing both their powers and immortality, while some began to doubt the truth and eventually found their own abilities and memories weakening.

Now, those who still have retained their memories and their powers have been recalled to active duty by an new, unknown manager. With ten tumultuous years behind them and an unknown future ahead, what new adventures will the members of the GHP face? Only one thing is certain- whatever awaits them now, it is sure to have the makings of a story to be told throughout the ages.
